Artist Crush- Henrique Oliverira

Lately I have been finding all sorts of artists whose work is completely inspiring to me. My most recent crush is Henrique Oliveira. Henrique’s installations all have a similar feel but each one takes on its own personality and is equally impressive. I’m in love with a many of Henrique’s creations but a few of the images are a little disturbing to me, although I’m not sure why. Oh goodness, now I’m really talking like an artist. Haha!

I’m still trying to figure out his construction process. It’s so perfectly put together. Take a moment and be inspired!

Almost all of Henrique’s installations are created out of thin strips of wood. His color schemes are always spot on and gorgeous!
This is one of those disturbing ones (below).

I can’t even believe that a human imagined and then created this (below). It looks like terrain you would find on another planet.

I love, love this one! (below)

I’m extremely taken by the texture and composition of these pieces. There is such grace and beauty combined with an obvious rough and edgy feel. Both of which are created with such a humble and rustic material.

So, what do you think? Are these images inspiring to you or a little too “artsy fartsy” for your taste?

I must admit I skimmed the photos before reading your words. I, too, found the second photo unsettling when I first saw it. The ones that are “bulging” are the ones that kind of make me squirm. The look like growths or cancers. However, the ones with softer curves and edges have a lot of movement and I like those a lot. Great post. Thanks!

Well… some of them look like internal organs. 😉 But, I love the first one. It makes me think of a mother bird swooping in to the nest to feed her babies. I think they would all be super impressive to see in person.

A little too “artsy farsty”, but I can appreciate that others appreciate them and the creative mind that thought them up!
