Cougar Town- Set Decorator’s Paradise

So, I’ve mentioned before that I’m kind of a TV junkie. And ever since Tim and I started working in production, I have been even more keenly aware of beautiful sets that I see on the silver screen and in TV episodes. One show that particularly grabbed my interest because of the sets (and the happy-go-lucky humor) is Cougar Town.

The designs in this show are really impeccable. I catch myself trying to really focus in on the background because it’s so interesting.
Jules (the main character) is a stylish Floridian who sells houses for a living and loves a good glass of wine. So, of course her home is styled with a lovely beachy chic sort of feel.
Grayson, Jules’ love interest, played the mysterious bachelor for the first season and he had a killer house that was masculine and amazing!!! The plaid wallpaper was perfect!
Ellie is the best friend. She is a bit snooty and rude. She’s a good person, but generally prefers her selfish ways. Although Ellie’s house is quite lovely, it really does not fit her persona at all! Her home is frilly and feminine, the type of home you might expect an over friendly cheerleader type to live in. Although I can’t figure out the reasoning for the set design, it’s still fun to look at!

So, those are a few of the sweet sets from Cougar Town, do you have a favorite TV show set?

We haven’t seen Cougar town yet. I’ve seen/heard it mentioned a few times this week, though, so I think I’ll put it on our Netflix list. 🙂 My favorite set right now is on Good Luck Charlie (Disney). It’s SO bright and craftsy and chalkboardy. 🙂 I love it!

Oh, and like I said, I haven’t seen Cougar Town, but maybe Ellie is trying to compensate for her personality flaws by decorating her home in a way that she wishes complemented her personality. Maybe? 🙂

Once Upon a Time…love a couple of their rooms. The Evil Queen/Mayor’s office is really cool and I love the layers of Snow’s apartment.

  3. K aka The Dandelion Girl

Gilmore Girls’ sets always made me swoon as each character had SUCH a different set (from the diner to Lorelei’s home to the Gilmore house to Sookie’s… etc)…. but I think my favorite set actually comes from the movie “It’s Complicated”, Meryl Streep’s home…

Love that show! I always think the same thing when I see Ellie’s house! I picture her in a sleek, modern space with glossy white, flat front cabinets and stormy grey walls, maybe a red accent wall or something because she’s pretty sassy 🙂 I never get enough of Jules’ house though, it’s always impeccable!

Hey Jenny! Don’t let the name “Cougar Town” discourage you. It very rarely has distasteful humor. It’s kind of like “Friends.”

I’ll have to check out Good Luck Charlie sometime!

Hey K! I never watched that show, but I’ve heard it was well liked when it was on. Maybe I can find a few old episodes online and check out those sets. You are totally right about Meryl’s “It’s Complicated” home!!!! That house was too die for! I think I even did a blog post over it a long time ago. 🙂

Amanda, maybe they should write a reno into the show and hire you and I to redecorate for Ellie! Love the red wall idea. . . she is very sassy! 🙂
