DESIGN STAR EPISODE 9 REVIEW

DESIGN STAR EPISODE 9 REVIEW

YES, YES, YES!!!! This is the week I have been waiting for!! I watched the episode last night which was wonderful and terrible all at the same time. I was so inspired by Emily’s room I was up all night dreaming up beautiful rooms of my own. Of course no sleep was the bad part of being so inspired. But I am not complaining! THANK YOU EMILY!!! Let’s admire her awesome creation, shall we?!

One thing that makes me so excited about this room is that it is COMPLETELY finished. I feel like it lacks nothing. Every accessory is perfectly placed (I mean she put nuts in the bowl on the coffee table). It appears that this room has evolved over time- but of course was created in only 2 days!

Emily’s eclectic, quirky style speaks to me and I feel like we have a similar aesthetic. She describes her style as weird. . . yep, after this episode I think we might be kindred spirits. 🙂
Ok, although I wasn’t quite as in love with Michael’s room, I thought he did some great things! He built a murphy bed!!! When I went to LA for the final round of interviews to make it on Design Star a year ago I immediately started visualizing what I would do based on challenges in previous seasons. One of the things that I thought I would do is create/build a murphy bed. I remember thinking it would be risky because of time constraints so I give Michael major props for pulling it off!

Other things I like in the space: the swanky couch, the cool and creative coffee table, the chandelier, and that masculine looking lounge chair.

I liked elements in Casey’s room as well. My FAVORITE thing was the color palette. Coral, gray, and yellow= GORGEOUS! I liked the look of the fabric on the ceiling but I think if I lived in a glass house one of the major perks would be seeing the stars right before I went to sleep.

Overall Casey’s room was pretty but lacked that one ingenious element that could inspire those of us watching.

It was SO nice to finally see what these talented designers were capable of. It honestly would take me an hour to write the previous Design Star reviews because I spent so much time figuring out how to be tactful in my assessment. This week it took me 15 minutes because I honestly enjoyed every design! BRAVO DESIGNERS!! Can’t wait ’til next week!

Hi, Kara! Love your blog. Just linked to it from another friends blog. I love all things home/house/decor/design. I’m not a pro, just pretty passionate about mixing things up & creating a space I love! I’ll be sure to keep checking in with you.

I too, loved Emily’s design. That earthy green and the blue wall paper. Freaking gorg! I’m totally stealing her idea for putting fabric up on a wall using spray adhesive as a wall paper…although, I think I’m going to try to get crafty and put the fab on stretch canvas and make some art work for my boy, Colt’s room.

I too agree that’s Casey’s room was missing somthing. I wasn’t in love with the frame thing. I LOVE the idea, but it kinda went flat. Maybe she should have some how layered them created some 3d pop kidna thing. I love how I talk like I’m a professional here…haha! Just an opinion. Ok, longest comment ever. Nice to meet ya 🙂

so, i’m so inspired by these pictures. my husband and i just moved into our home again after a disaster flooding of our place and we’re now starting back from scratch. it’s kinda fun though, and i’m trying to figure out what to do with the empty wall space in my place. this is such room eye candy!
