I rarely buy magazines. I subscribe to a few that come in the mail every month, however purchasing one from a store rarely happens. But last night it did. I can’t even even remember what I was searching for online, but somehow I ran across a home featured in the latest House Beautiful Magazine. I went out and bought the magazine immediately.
When you first glance at the photos, you may think these rooms don’t appear to be very “kara” and may wonder why I am so inspired by them. Well, although I could never live with that much white, there are so many things about this home that I love!!! Erin Martin, the designer, puts a couple of pieces/ideas into each room that are unique, artistic, and, simply beautiful. For example, in the living room there are: lights made from giant buoys, an incredible coffee table created with a welded nautical chain, and a fireplace surround made with scrap wood pieces. That fireplace surround is really a piece of art. I love it.
The kitchen is outfitted with antique appliances and inspirational quotes. . .
This scene (below) is simple, but beautifully simple. It feels soothing and intriguing at the same time.
I’ve loved antique brass fixtures for years now. I will have them in my bathroom this time around. They will be beautiful. I will be happy.
The high gloss ceiling, steel lockers, vanity lights, and bronze fixtures come together to create a jaw dropping combination in the bathroom.
This photo (below) shows off the family room/den. Once again, Erin added some wonderfully unique pieces and artistic touches. Gorgeous.
I purposely did not tell you much about these photos. I feel like when something is done so well, the creator should be rewarded. In this case, I felt like House Beautiful deserved the $5 news stand price for this magazine because I was so inspired by the issue (there are more great houses/ideas in the rest of the magazine). I am thinking I may even sign up for a subscription. You can find the article online (photos here), but sometimes I really love being able to flip through the pages of a real paper magazine. You can also see more of Erin’s inspiring designs here!
Check back tomorrow for more info on the concrete countertops from yesterday’s post!
I Love this house!!!!
Speaking of wanting brass fixtures in your bathroom…..when are you going to post an update on your home? The last one left me a little worried for you, not that I haven’t lived in less than desirable conditions myself. We didn’t have any one that wasn’t family over to our house for the first year we were in it. It was just too embarrassing. But now I think back and wish I had taken more pictures to remind myself what not having a kitchen was like.
