This weekend I received an e-mail from Kristen. She has a blog (The Best From Our Nest) and she also has an incredibly heartbreaking story. Kristen and her family experienced the loss of their sweet baby girl at the early age of 9 months. I can’t imagine what it must be like to go on living without her presence. Unbearable if not for the love of Christ, that is for sure. Here is what Kristen says about Olivia on her blog:

OliviaAbout

“Our daughter Olivia was a precious baby girl whose bright smile, twirling toes and precious waves shone a light on this dark world during her too short life. She brought us endless joy during her 9 months and continues to teach us lessons in endurance, following Christ, the fragility of life and the appreciation of each minute. Olivia made us want to stop and smell the roses. Her contagious belly laugh and content nature always seemed too good to be true. She was meant for heaven and the perfect paradise we long for there. Until then, my little Livy…”

In honor of Olivia and to help other families going through similar circumstances, Kristen and her family started the “Olivia Charles Foundation.” You can click on the link to learn more about the foundation, the help it provides, and how to donate. Kristen and her husband are also using their designing and building skills to launch Olivia Charles Antiques. This is how the couple describes the furniture they sell.

“In the South, we love our traditions and our history. And Olivia Charles Antiques proudly sells cottage-chic furniture made by Southern hands in their historic barn-turned-workshop in Tennessee.
All of our adirondack furniture is made using antique bead-board reclaimed from barns being disassembled around the South. The frames of our furniture are made from 100-year-old cypress wood or white oak that has been painted and hand-distressed. They have been sealed to allow outdoor use, but prolonged exposure to rain or winter weather is not suggested. To ensure longevity, we suggest storing or covering your chairs in the winter months.
Olivia Charles Antiques offers cottage-chic style and eco-friendly furniture that is the perfect marriage of old materials and new construction. Our pieces will stand up to every day use while still evoking a sense of both the past and present-just like the South itself.”

Kristen, thank you for sharing your story and for helping those around you. It is my prayer that with each family you help, and with each piece of furniture you build, that your family will experience healing and the incredible peace and hope that only faith in Jesus can bring.
