Hey Friends! Today I am excited to tell you how Tim and I took part in a fantastic home makeover! A couple of weeks ago we found out that HGTV’d (a new show) would be shooting an episode in Killeen, TX and they wanted us to help them make it a success!!

Now, don’t get too excited for us, Tim and I were not the main designers, we really weren’t very important at all. BUT we loved the fact that we were taking yet another step towards our ultimate dream!

David Bromstad was the main designer and can I just say, he was so nice. The first time we interacted with him, I was so nervous! But he was incredibly personable and he gave me a high five for my muscles. 🙂

One reason Tim and I were called in to help was because HGTV’d had partnered with Ellen to give this military family a crazy makeover. As you can imagine, once Ellen got involved, the project got a whole lot bigger. HGTV’d orginally planned just to take on the back yard. Then when Ellen got interested, the project expanded to include a living room, master bedroom, and dining room makeover.
Although I didn’t get to meet Ellen, we did get to meet Jeannie and the rest of the Ellen’s “surprise crew.” They were wonderful and Jeannie is just as sweet in person as she is on television. They even told me to give them a call next time we’re in LA and they will get us tickets to the show! Yay!

Anyway, I am not allowed to post photos of the spaces until the show aires on HGTV sometime in August. Be sure to look for Tim and I because we’ve been told we will definitely get some camera time! This episode will be the hour long season finale, but until then, you can watch this clip from Ellen’s show as the home was unveiled to the owners!

If that doesn’t work try watching it here.

You are famous, Kara! I’m pumped that you got to work with David Bromstad…he’s my favorite Design Star! I’m dying to see the full episode, so you’ll have to keep us posted when it airs.

Oh my word that kitchen and backyard are breathtaking! What an amazing project to be a part of. We entered oiur kitchen back in January for Get HGTVd but sadly never heard anything back. Our home was built in 1860 and the kitchen is bare bones for our young family. Im so happy that this couple now has an amazing home:)
