Mini Makeover- Bad to Better to Best- Reclaimed Media Console

Yes, I know I missed my post yesterday but hopefully this mini makeover will make up for it! This is what our kitchen looked like 3 years ago. . . a beauty wasn’t she? The cabinet doors looked like a piece of plywood cut with a circular saw- basically they were awful!

When it came time to tear these “cabinets” down I really wanted to use the wood to create something. They were obviously not very attractive cabinets, but I felt like it was good wood that I could save. . .plus I really like to have pieces around that remind me of what this house used to look like! Anyway, I got to work and ended up with this parsons table.

I have no tutorial on this piece because I wasn’t blogging at the time. But don’t worry. . . It gets better!
I haven’t been happy with my living room since I moved in. I’ve just made due with what I have. Lately it’s been really bugging me and so I’ve started to make some changes, beginning with the media console. The moment I painted it green I didn’t like it, but never got around to repainting. Well a few days ago, I decided to crack open the paint can again. This time I went with white.

Then I did a little glazing.

And then I added something that would totally change the feel of this piece. . . beautiful scrolled wooden brackets.

And I LOVE them. I think it made the console look very Anthropologie-esque. And that is ALWAYS good in my book!

I placed the suitcases back underneath the table that were there before (minus the blue one) but left the top one open to hold extra blankets and pillows.

I am so happy with the way this piece turned out and I finally feel like I’m on my way to loving my living room. More changes to come!

Hey Ladies! Oh I’m so glad you like it! I actually found the scrolly brackets at a flea market for a couple of bucks. Can you believe it? I know Lowes, Home Depot, and other hardware stores also sell brackets that are similar.

Hey Amanda! I am waiting to see if that happens or not! It seems to be the perfect place for it!

Erin, my dvd player is not in the photo because I am currently working on a way to easily conceal it. I will post about it soon!
