Yes, this post is for all of you that think designers always get it right on the first try. I am here to confess- sometimes I get it wrong. And in this case, I was WAY wrong. Instead of making others green with envy, this first attempt at a backsplash made me want to hurl.
The inspiration for this vibrant green came from the towel you can see folded above the sink. It looked/looks great in small doses!! You can see it all through out our finished kitchen in vases, towels, and trays! BUT, as a full fledged backsplash it fell far short of my expectations. So, down it came and a blu-ish bead board took it’s place- thank goodness.

The material we used for the “green as all get out” backsplash actually worked really well and was very unconventional. Any guesses on what it is?

I completely understand the designers make mistakes too thing. I’m a commercial designer which granted is a totally different ballgame than residential but I have painted every room in my house nearly 3 times! My husband thinks I’m crazy but I’m just trying to get it right. Who wants to live with something just ‘eh’ when you can spend $20 on another gallon of paint and do it right!

My guess is some sort of vinyl? Maybe vinyl flooring?
