Design Star Season 5 has finally drawn to a close and I have to say I am pleased with the outcome! Emily has an awesome eclectic vibe that is not well represented on HGTV right now, so I think she brings a lot to the table.
Although I would have picked Emily to win last week, I really felt Michael gave her a run for her money. His segment was very entertaining and he had some really great design points!
Sidenote: That coffee table totally makes me think of gladiator sandals. Emily- make a mental note!
I really appreciate Michael’s ability to repurpose lots of things without it being completely obvious.
I think choosing Nina as his client was a bold move on Michael’s part. It could have been disastrous but he put her in her place early AND allowed her to make a piece of artwork for the space (which I’m sure pleased her!).
The curved divider was definitely the highlight of the space and I think it is a beautiful feminine and functional touch.
Michael was great. . .but in the end Emily’s space(s) and personality won her the Design Star crown.
Emily again provided a beautiful space that appeared to evolve over time. I LOVED the aged brass accents.
Emily didn’t do any repurposing this time around, probably because Tom is not a “let’s make this work” kind of guy. 🙂 He ALWAYS looks put together, ALWAYS appears pristine, but has this warm personality that just makes you feel comfortable around him. I think Emily’s room has the same affect!
And hopefully next year I will be writing all these Design Star reviews from a behind-the-scenes point of view! 🙂
