CLEAN SLATE IS COMING!!!!

CLEAN SLATE IS COMING!!!!

For those of you slightly perplexed by the title of this post, let me tell you a little bit about this fantastic event!!! Once a year my church, The Church at Battle Creek, finds families in our area that need a fresh start, a new beginning, a “Clean Slate.” The catch phrase associated with Clean Slate is: “Transforming lives by transforming homes.” The main goal in the end is to show the love of Jesus Christ to the families we are helping. It is a wonderfully fulfilling time and I would love to invite anyone in the Tulsa area to come out and help at the home I will be working at. The fun starts at 5 on Thursday and ends at 5 on Saturday!! E-mail me for more info.

Because I try to use the gifts God has given me to glorify Him, I am the designer for 1 of 8 homes our church will be taking on this year. Below are some inspiration photos for what I am planning! I am calling the style “Modern Farmhouse.”

What a great thing to be a part of Kara! Is Clean Slate something that your church came up with, or is it a national organization? I’m thinking maybe we could take on something like this at my church.

    Hey Rachel,

Clean Slate is original to our church though I am sure some other churches do something similar. You should definitely start something like it at your church! If you need some advice or info our women’s minister has helped some other churches do a Clean Slate of their own. Let me know! 🙂

I am a new follower of your blog due to your beautiful house crash on Young House Love. I just love your mix of decor. I just can’t get enough decorating ideas, it is my little get away from being a busy mom.
I love this idea of Clean Slate. As a fellow Christian, I love finding new ways to serve and use our talents that God gave us. We have had about 50 people coming from our local YWCA here in Seattle, and I have been wondering if me and my two interior designer friends could go and do a budget makeover on there rooms. Thanks for your wonderful blog! It is on my everyday read list now!

    Hey Ingrid!

I am so glad you enjoy the blog! That really means the world to me! You and your friends should go for it! Our pastor often says, “You’re never more like God than when you are giving.” Whether that be your time, talent, or money I know your generous spirit would influence those around you for God’s glory! Let me know if you end up doing anything!

    Kara,
I was wanting to write to encourage you in your dream of making a living doing what you love. But I’m afraid that ….I don’t have much to say after Ingrid’s post, she pretty much summed it up. I to am an avid follower of the YHL blog, but don’t typically post any comments, actually this is my first of any length. As a young wife & mother I am encouraged daily by their can do attitude & love of managing what God has given us wisely (although I’m not sure where they stand spiritually?).
That said I was SO excited/refreshed to see you posting so openly in your love for Christ & decorating. Two of my favorite topics! I too have added you to my daily read. Thanks Again & may the lord richly bless you as you walk in his will!

PS: My husband & I started our own small business almost 5 years ago. I can’t say it wasn’t scary, but it was awesome to see how the lord does provide & open doors. God Bless!

I totally agree with Ingrid! It is so wonderful to see people using their talents! Your blog is the first one I have found that matches my mismatch DIY style! I LOVE IT!
