Hey Friends! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
Today, I am showing off the last undicussed element of Natalie’s Dining Room Design! As you may have gathered from the photos, the space is rather large. The table is also a giant and a perfect size for the room. Since everything is big here, the lights needed to be oversized as well.
It was a challenge to find something that was large enough, affordable, and in a color we liked (or in a material that we could paint). After much searching, we came across these industrial metal pendants from CB2! With a 2ft diameter, these babies were the perfect size to visually balance the space!
The only issue with this choice was the color. While I loved the raw metal, the gray color would have just blended into the dark gray walls. A little green spray paint fixed that issue in no time. Before the paint was completely dry, I used paint thinner to age the lights and make them look like a vintage find.
I left the metal unpainted on the inside/underneath part of the light. I like the contrast the two colors provides.
I also covered the standard black cords in rope to amp up the charm factor. It’s been done before, but it’s a trick that’s worth repeating.
Sometimes even brand new pieces need a mini makeover to perfectly fit your space or style. If the price is right, don’t be afraid to take some extra steps. The risk is almost always worth the reward! 🙂
‘Til tomorrow!

love this room!
Looks great. Awesome solution and I really like the effect your paint technique allowed 🙂
My favorite dining room yet!
I love those lights and the room. Good job!
The lights are perfect for that space! I love that they look a little worn in too. This space is fabulous! Great work!
Very cool! BTW…I just saw the KD commercial on TV and the set looked great!
