Hey Friends! The last two weeks have been quite a whirlwind- constant motion. And although I am exhausted at this point, it was/is for wonderful reasons! One of those reasons is this family…

The Johnson family- Francie, Scott, Georgeanna, and Chelsea.
We came to know this loving family when I received an e-mail from a Producer at ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss with Chris Powell. The producer told me that Georgeanna (the mother) was chosen to be a part of the show and the producer was hoping I would be interested in doing a makeover for the couple’s master bathroom!!!
When I read the e-mail, I about jumped out of my seat with excitement! Not only do I love a good makeover, but Tim and I are big fans of the show! In fact, while watching it we have commented how we wish we could be a part of the makeovers they give to contestants to make them super inspiring and meaningful! In seasons past, the makeovers have usually involved the contestants getting a home gym- stocked full of equipment. This year, there is a little bit of restructuring and the home gyms are being done away with. However Scott, a super supportive hubby, wanted to take on a makeover for his beloved wife- the bathroom. The bathroom, specifically the shower was a space that did not give Georgeanna positive feelings and was especially uninspiring. Unfortunately, the shower floor was cracked due to Georgeanna’s weight and was now an eye sore, lacking function, and a constant reminder to G that she wasn’t where she wanted to be. Of course the show producer’s thought the bathroom makeover would be a great addition to the show, so they reached out to me for a little help!
Tim and I went over to meet Scott the very next day and took a look at the space. Here’s what we saw. . .
The bathroom itself was not terrible, but certainly not inspiring! And although the master bathroom is usually one of the last rooms to get attention in a home, maybe it should be one of the first! I mean, think about it. The bathroom is where most of us start and end the day. It’s where we get ready to take on the world in the morning and where we go to wind down at night. Unfortunately, Georgeanna was only receiving negative vibes from her space and that had to change!
So, after grilling Scott about G (her past, likes, dreams, goals, ect) we headed back home to get started on the design. It was VERY important to me (and is for every design I do) that the space was extremely personalized and inspiring. I stalked Georgeanna’s Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram trying to figure out just who this lady was. And in the end, I think we gathered enough intel to really make a meaningful design!
So, once we decided on a design, I gave Scott a few tasks to complete before we would come over to “do our thing.” Scott was so great to work with- he coordinated all of the painting, the tiling, and the flooring. Here’s what the space looked like after Scott took care of the tile and all the painting. Already a vast improvement!!!
So, that’s where I am going to leave off today! I’ll spend the rest of the week going through all the design features that we included in the space and the reasons behind them! Stay tuned!!

What a fun project! Love that it marries two of your passions, Kara.
Wow! What a cool opportunity! Good luck and congrats to you:)
