DIY Patriotic Art Ideas

DIY Patriotic Art Ideas

Hey Friends!  Sorry I am late posting today.  Tim took me to a birthday brunch this morning at one of my favorite restaurants in town! 🙂

Today is more about sparking your imagination than giving you a step by step guide on how to create these pieces of art.  The two ideas I am showing are pretty self explanatory but unique and meaningful. Hopefully these ideas will help you to start thinking about creating pieces of art that will be especially significant to you! 🙂

I definitely consider myself patriotic and for this reason I love the idea having art in my home that reminds me of my love for this country.  The first art idea I want to present is a framed replica of The Constitution.

Tim and I recently went to St. Louis for a little family trip.  While there, we visited The Arch.  Although I refuse to buy a bunch of corny souvenirs when we go on trips, I do allow myself to purchase things that I can use in a tasteful way.  The Arch’s Museum Store had some pretty awesome things that I was happy to purchase and take home.  One of those things was a replica of the Constitution of The United States.

I really love how the paper looks and feels old as if it was the real thing.  I knew the texture of the parchment paper would add to any room I chose to put it in.

Creating the art was as simple as framing the paper.  As you can see I left the glass off of the picture frame.  This not only shows off the texture of the paper, it also makes the piece feel more like a relic.  I only framed one piece of paper, but I could see this being a great grid installation with a 6-9 frames for a bigger impact.

Here are a few other historically significant items that I also picked up a the museum store as well! 🙂

The next art idea I am sharing involves a bunch of military patches. .  .

These patches are works of art themselves and I’ve always thought grouping them together would create a very eye catching display.  So, I simply attached the patches to a piece of foam core (which I put inside a frame). I used spray adhesive, but I think you could also use cool pins and use the foam core as a bulletin board of sorts.

Like I always say, I think it is way better if you can use patches from authentic service members uniforms, but you can also buy these patches at a military supply store.

So there you have it.  A few simple and meaningful pieces of art perfect for your patriotic home! 🙂 More great ideas on the way!  See you tomorrow!!
