Hey Friends! Well if you didn’t figure it out from yesterday’s post Tim and I are in New York City this week! We came in on official business but are staying a few extra days because we need an “inspircation!” If you didn’t get that, it’s like a vacation but mainly taken for the purpose of getting inspiration to fuel our creativity! In honor of that, I thought I would post pics from my somewhat newly created craft room. . . it used to be the reading room, but let’s be honest I don’t really read (other than blogs of course!). Therefore, the reading room became the craft room! 🙂 Check it out!
There are a lot of feminine feeling elements going on in this room and while I like that, I didn’t want it to feel too girly because that’s just not me. I’m not a girly girl but I love a good floral pattern! Anyway, I tried to balance the feminine touches by bringing in these metal lockers. I LOVE them because of their color and material but also because it gives a nod to my basketball days! 🙂 Oh, and they store a crazy amount of stuff!
Storage is kind of crucial in a craft room. . . that way your space doesn’t end up looking like a supply closet. I like to artfully display things when possible, but I also have plenty of concealed storage. I mean a guess a glue gun could look cute if it were gold or something, but mine’s just royal blue. 🙂
Inside the bread box I keep my glue gun, glue gun supplies, and other adhesives. I have a plethora of glass jars that hold everything from buttons to paint brushes to safety pins. I find my jars at flea markets or simply clean out and keep my jelly jars when Tim’s eaten too many PB&J’s!
The skirt on the table also provides a hidden space to stash tons of magazines and other necessary stuff.
This space is pretty small and the lighting is not great. I use mirrors to help with both of these issues. Mirrors create depth in a space and bounce light around the room.
The other side of the room has a nook the perfect size for a twin mattress. Tim and I designed it that way when we were remodeling. I kept the sheer curtains from the reading room design, but replaced the decoupaged map wall and added some desk lamps turned sconces! Tim’s going to tell you how to do that next week!
Under the nightstand, an old milk crate holds a bunch of fabric scraps that I am sure will become something beautiful one day. 🙂 And the lace light adds more texture and another interesting element to the space!
Overall, I love the left side of the room, but I feel like the right side (with the bed) needs to be more cohesive. I really want to paint the trim a lighter color, but with our house on the market and the million other things I have to do, it’s probably not going to happen. If I do decide to paint the trim I’ll do a little update and show a little more of the bed nook area. 🙂
Ok, we’re off to be inspired! And don’t worry, we’ll take tons of pics to share all the yummy inspiration with you!!!

LOVE it! Especially the lockers and table lamp turned sconce!
Have a great time in NY!
Those lockers are to die for! Where did you get them?
