At the beginning of every year, the Pantone people choose the color of the year. I am not sure how they were bestowed the honor of picking the color of the year, but everyone seems to go along with it. This year, the Pantone color professionals chose Emerald Green as the go to hue!
Side note- I always thought “The Emerald City” from the Wizard of Oz was so beautiful. Remember it?
Anyway, Emerald Green is a color that I have really liked using in the past. I haven’t come across a project where I wanted to paint a whole room in the hue, but as an accent color- it’s one of my favorites!
You may have spied a little Emerald peeking through in this photo above when we unveiled our bathroom flooring. The vanity is almost ready for it’s close-up, so stayed tuned for that!
In the photo below, we used green glass paint and jute rope to create a light that resembled Japanese fishing floats. It is a beautiful accent to the blue DIY fish scale tile backsplash.

I wrote a post a few weeks ago about how I love to use plants to bring life into a space. Well, it turns out most plants also bring in that beautiful emerald green color as well. This is great way to bring green into any style. The green in plants feels natural and not forced.

Green, Gray, and Gold? Definitely a favorite combo of mine. You can see how the palette comes together in Nat’s Dining Room, right here. These galvanized industrial lights were great, but a bit of green paint made them even better!
My Dolly Art even got a little dose of the Emerald color. Since I paired the pigment with Dolly, you know it’s a real favorite of mine! 🙂
So, I’ll definitely be using the color of the year in my designs in the coming months. Maybe I’ll even come across a project where a full-on Emerald wall would be appropriate. 🙂
Yes, I am a fan of Emerald Green. . .however, if I were the one in charge of picking the color of the year, I think I would go with coral! I’ve actually been buying up this hue right and left.
Hummmm, I wonder what a coral and emerald combo would look like!!? 😉
‘Til tomorrow!

I love emerald, but I may be a little biased since it is my birthstone 😉
I think coral &emerald would look great together if done right, and I’m sure you can do it right!
I can’t wait to see the rest of that bathroom! Love the teaser. I think Emerald and Coral are a good match.
