I have to brag on my husband a bit today. He recently created this super cool piece of art for a friend looking to give his wife something special for their 7th wedding anniversary. If you’re into traditions, you may know that the 7th anniversary calls for copper to celebrate the union. Mat wanted Tim to fabricate a piece of art that would pay homage to the couples’ history. Here’s what the final product looked like….
Beautiful, right? But are you a little confused about those words? Well, McKinnon, Eastern, Elvaston, and Hood are all streets that the couple has lived on together. But what about “here” and “there?” That makes a little more sense when you realize that Edward Sharpe’s song- “Home” is etched along the edge of the frame……
If you’re not familiar with the song, it’s most famous line is “home is wherever I’m with you.” So, essentially, Mat is saying to Kelsey “It doesn’t matter where we end up, as long as I’m with you- I’m home.” Is that not the sweetest and most thoughtful gift? So wonderfully romantic.
Here are a couple more shots of the piece….
The copper piece floats in a wood frame and the street names were cut out with a high tech laser. I love how the floral pattern is visible behind the words, adding some extra interest!
Oh, I just love love. Good job Mat and of course, as always I’m so impressed with Tim’s incredible craftsmanship!
I LOVE THIS! What a great idea. I love the song on the frame too.
so cute and special
