DIY Light Bulb Art from Anthropologie

DIY Light Bulb Art from Anthropologie

Do you remember about a year ago when Anthropologie was selling these “Recycled Stadium Bulbs” as sculptures of sorts?

I loved them, but I didn’t love the price so I never took one home with me. Then, one day I was strolling through my local REstore and found a few old bulbs that instantly reminded me of the Anthropologie art. So, I scooped them up! Fast forward 8 months and a snow storm finally gave me the time to get to my project.

Here’s how you can make your own light bulb art!
1. Cut squares of wood for your base. I used scrap 1X6 and a chop saw.

2. Use a ruler and draw a line from corner to corner creating an “X.” This will make sure your hole is centered.

3. Use a spade bit to drill a hole. My bulb required 1 1/4 in bit. Do not drill all the way through the wood.

4. Use wood glue and clamps (or just screws) to create a larger base. You can skip this step if you prefer a thinner base.

5. Stain your piece of wood.
6. Apply construction adhesive to the hole and press your bulb firmly into place

And you’re done!
I can’t decide if I like the General Electric stamp facing out or not. . .

But I think either way I love my newest completed project!
