DIY Pop Art Table Top

DIY Pop Art Table Top

This next project is perfect because not only was it super easy and quick- it was personalized!  I started out with this glass top table.

I was a fan of it’s brass base and simple lines, but to be honest, there was nothing really special about it. As I was thinking through ways to make Emily’s space speak to her, I remembered some canvases that a group of friends had painted together on her birthday.  As a celebration of Em, her friends painted pop art pieces reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s famous Marilyn Monroe paintings.  You’re familiar with it, right?…..

So I had Em pick out a few of her favorites from the bunch and she came out with these four….

Next, I took a high quality picture of the four grouped together and had it printed at my local Fed Ex office.

Now back to the table.  Originally, it came with one piece of glass that was a about 1/4 in thick.  For my idea however, I needed two pieces of glass.  So, I called the glass shop and ordered two pieces of 1/8 glass in the exact dimensions of the pervious piece.

Finally, all I had to do was sandwich the print in between the two glass pieces to create a one-of-a-kinf table top that will remind Emily of fond memories for years to come!

Oh yeah, and the pop art feel totally fits this edgy, chic space!  What print would you pick to personalize this piece?!
