DIY Quick Change Burlap Wreath

DIY Quick Change Burlap Wreath

Thanks to those who felt led to donate yesterday.  If you’re still considering a donation, I am putting the “Donate” Button up on the sidebar.  It will stay there for a month.

Today I am presenting a wreath idea you can keep up year round.  This piece gives you great, neutral base that you can pair with seasonal decor to make your place feel festive.

The main parts of the wreath consist of a Styrofoam wreath form and burlap garland (which lucky for us) is very easy to find right now.

The first step is to wrap the wreath form with the burlap.  I wrapped my burlap around twice to help the wreath feel a little bit more bulky.

Once you’ve completed the initial base burlap wrap, the remaining items can be chosen according to season and/or mood.

This time around, I chose to use a miniature garland (found at Target).  I wrapped it around about 1/3 of the wreath.

To hold the garland in place, I used straight pins. They push right into the Styrofoam wreath form and secure the garland.  When I am ready to change the look, I’ll simply pull out the pins and have my clean and clear burlap base to work from.

I also used pins to hold a ribbon in place so I could hang the wreath from a hook.  Besides the garland, I used a few peacock feathers to dress the piece up and make it fit the jewel toned color palette I’ve got going in my home right now.

A few weeks ago, I had a bit of a different version made up for one of our Christmas decor segments.  I folded these crystals out of paper.  Same wreath- slightly different look.

In the future, I could see me doing something like this wreath (which I LOVE) from Ms. Ashley Ann! Goodness her photos are gorgeous!

Now this is a project even I can complete! (my DIY drive has been a little off this year) In fact, it’s perfect! I have tons of burlap ribbon left over from my daughter’s wedding, I found a couple of strands of vintage tinsel that I forgot I had, and it will be fun to hunt for an embellishment! Thanks Kara!
