Are you ready for another “before and after” today!? In the midst of all the craziness of life, I’ve neglected to share a living room I put together almost a year ago! Oh my goodness, time flies!!! I’ll start with the fireplace makeover!
Here’s how the hearth looked in the beginning…..
I wanted to extend the visual height of the fireplace in order to create more of a grand focal point. To achieve this, I had my contractor build out a box which extended from the top of the mantle to the ceiling. By painting this box black (along with the mantle), the fireplace instantly became a dramatic statement….
After the building was complete, it was time to add some tile! I wanted to use this element to bring in some pattern and I found the perfect option from Home Depot, believe it or not!
Isn’t that so beautiful?! And I knew a black grout would just make the pattern pop even more! Here’s how things looked after all the work was complete!

The black and white contrast coupled with the gorgeous pattern, and extended height has me completely pleased with how this transformation turned out! Yay!!
