Hi Friends! Today I wanted to do a little update on our space. We’ve been piecing projects together here at the house when we have time and aren’t working on another job. Although we still don’t have a fully functioning kitchen and the bathroom (which I wanted done before we moved into the space) is still far from done, we do have a really great wood wall going on!. . . I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry about that. 🙂 Just kidding, I can handle it. Because I know it won’t be like this forever, I can handle the less than ideal living conditions. Plus, watching “Machine Gun Preacher” (which I did last night) will put things in perspective for you.
You may remember way back when we first started working on our space that we had to modify this wall a bit. . .
As we were removing plaster and uncovering the lathe, I fell in love with the beautiful rustic look of the wood and fought with Tm about keeping it. Since this wall was going to be part of the bathroom, Tim felt like the rough wood wasn’t the best choice. So instead, we removed the lathe carefully and saved it with the idea of covering another wall.
Since I covered the entry way wall in a bright and busy floral pattern, I wanted the inset wall right beside it to be more about texture. The texture still allows the wall to be interesting without competing with the floral which would cause the space to feel overwhelming. The wood lathe obviously has a ton of texture, so that’s what I went with!
I wanted the lathe to feel original to that wall. I kept as much character in tact as I could by leaving the tiny nails in the boards. It’s a small thing, but great design is in the details, right!?
As you can see, we will definitely need some window coverings and I’ve got plans for super tall, dramatic drapes that will draw our eyes up to the awesome wood ceilings, making the small footprint of the space feel much bigger.
Tim and I have been trying to really balance the masculine and feminine aspects of the space and I think we’re on the right track so far! I’ll be revealing more of our space next week, so stay tuned y’all! 🙂

That wall is amazing! I love it next to the floral wallpaper.
So I think I just realized that these windows are at the front of your store/home right? So I totally get the frosting for privacy, but it also seems like the perfect place to showcase your business. Do you have any plans for something like that?
