I’ve learned some things during my time at Anthro. One thing I’ve realized is the “power of paper!” Paper is so easily manipulated, there are so many types, and it’s so cheap!! The display I’m about to show you is made from an everyday item that is thrown out daily. . . newspapers!
One thing I really like about this display is the movement created by the papers. I love that the installation appears to come out of the stacks of newspaper.
When I was working through how I wanted the display to look, I knew that I wanted it to look very textural and I didn’t want the papers to be flat. I wanted to create mounds, piles, or dimension of some sort.
After trying a few ideas out, I settled on this process that produces a “spine like” effect.
Another one of my favorite things about the display is how the colors meld together and fade in and out throughout the display.
Who knew stacks of crumpled paper could be so beautiful! Paper is such a great medium.
Stacks of paper throughout the space tie the whole area in with the installation. We used these stacks to display more product and to create a couple of extra shelves.
What do you think? Will you be saving all your newspapers now?
One more display to go!
PS- My life is absolutely crazy right now. If you’ve e-mailed me in the past few weeks and I haven’t responded, please forgive me! I will try to get back to you as soon as I can! Thank you so much for reading!
I am really going to miss your Anthro displays; they are always inspiring.
so creative!
how often does Anthro change their displays?
amazing! i love the movement and texture and layering. where do the old displays go when you remove them? I will miss the paper flowers, but this looks awesome
