So, last week something pretty exciting happened. . . well, exciting for me anyway. For the past 6 months, we have been using a ladder to get to our bathroom (which sits 4 feet up from the main floor). That meant that late night or early morning bathroom breaks involved me crawling up 3or 4 steps while I was half awake. Luckily, no injures occurred and we finally got around to getting some stairs installed!
Let’s take a look at the before and after. . .
What do you think? Our stairs are made from hot rolled steel. I wanted something different than the average looking wooden tread stairs and we thought this bent steel number would be right up our alley!

I love the modern feel of the stairs and how they are open underneath. Some mamas out there may be concerned since there are no handrails, but we aren’t worried since we have no children.
You can see that we still have to fix the air vent. That should be finished soon!
We’ve actually been doing lots of “functional” work around here lately. This is very exciting because it means life is getting easier and we are getting closer to the part I love- making everything pretty! But really, it is nice to skip up some stairs (rather than scale a ladder) when I need to take a shower or brush my teeth! Wooo hoooo! 🙂

Very industrial! I can’t imagine having to climb a ladder to get to my bathroom. Glad you have a more comfortable (and safer) way to access your shower!
Love the stairs!! I totally know what you mean about a ladder: I live in on the second floor of an old victorian and my room/studio is in a loft area. To get up their I have to climb an old library ladder, super awesome looking but ridiculously impractical!! I am totally a stair ninja now and can climb up or down holding my laptop and art supplies without even holding on:)

Hey Dacia! No, the edges are not sharp. The metal is 16 gauge, so it’s too thick to be sharp, but strong enough to hold weight without bending. 🙂
