Part Designer, Part Athlete

Part Designer, Part Athlete

Hey Friends!  Excuse me while I diverge from the purpose of this blog for a bit.

This weekend was super fun and exciting for me!  You may have picked up that I am an avid crossfitter and that working out/competing is one of my favorite things to do.  Well, this weekend I had a chance to be a part of something very special.  There is a new sport coming to town and the league is called the NPFL (National Professional Fitness League).  This league will give amazing athletes the opportunity to make a living while inspiring others with their hard work and determination.  The matches will include 11 races and will consist of all sorts of movements, from olympic lifts to gymnastic-y feats, to all around athletic activities!  Each team will consist of  4 men and 4 women working together to complete the races.  Talk about fun!!!!

This weekend 1 of 4 combines to try out for this league was held in Dallas.  The first day was all about individual performance as you tried to show off your strengths and skill sets.  The last day, we were put into teams to run through a match (all 11 races).  I can’t tell you how much fun I had and how wonderful it was to compete alongside amazing athletes.  After the weekend was complete, 18 women and 24 men were selected to move on to the second round of tryouts, which will be in Las Vegas this June.  I am so very happy to say that I made the cut!!!! Yay!!!!  Here are some pics and fun videos from this weekend if you’re interested!

Congratulations on making the cut Kara! I also wanted to let you know that you inspired me to start Crossfit myself (from your post a few months back). Yep, 3 days a week 5:30am, I signed up right after your post. I’m sore in places I didn’t realize existed. I’m not as ripped as you (yet), I am getting stronger, and came to the realization that stronger > skinny. My 8 and 10 year old sons both say, “Mom is tough, she does Crossfit!” You’ve inspired this 37 year old mom to take it to the next level! Thank you Kara, and congrats on your accomplishments, good luck in Vegas!
    Regards,
    Deb Lange
