Parents want only the best for their babies and this thought extends to the design of the nursery. So today I want to share 5 ways to create a sweet little space for your babbling bundle of joy- on a budget of course!
Obviously it is very important that your nursery not only be beautiful, but functional as well. So a key component to a good lookin’ baby room is
1. A ROCKIN’ ROCKER!!! Now comfort is essential because of the amount of use this piece of furniture will get. But instead of opting for the glider style seats that are standard in most nursery’s- look for something unique with a bit more style. I found this beauty at a garage sale for $5!!!!! It looked a LOT worse when I bought it, but with a little TLC it was completely transformed. It is quite possibly my favorite mini makeover ever! Read all about it right HERE!!
Here are two other rockers I am drooling over!
2. CHOOSE A GROWN UP COLOR PALETTE OR PATTERN!
Just because this space is for a child, don’t feel like you are limited to shopping in the baby section. If you like all the animal prints and cutesy stuff try to pair it with items that add a modern element or sophisticated touch. After all, you will probably be spending as much time in their as your baby!
I jazzed up these plain curtains with a band of chic fabric whose color corresponds to the “Amy Butler Zoo Animal” baby bedding.
3. HAVE AN AMAZING MOBILE!
Once again- avoid the urge to go and grab the unoriginal, off-the-shelf options from Target and Babies-R-Us. Instead search for some fabulous options on Etsy or make your own. Read about the bird mobile I made HERE!
4. USE PERSONALIZED PIECES!
It’s always nice to be surrounded by things that remind you of good times and loved ones. For example, at a baby shower I helped host I had pieces of paper sitting out with colored pencils and instructions to create a piece of art bearing the baby’s initial.
Then these pieces of art were used to decorate the nursery. I placed them on cork tiles above the crib so they could be easily rotated, changed, or replaced. This not only reminds the home owners how much they’re loved, it gives friends and family the opportunity to show their support and feel more connected to the newborn baby!
5. KID’S CLOTHING IS SO CUTE- USE IT TO ACCESSORIZE THE SPACE!!
If you are having a baby chances are you already have some ADORABLE shoes, hats, clothing, ect. Use these items in unique ways to add to your design. It will keep costs down and shoot the cute factor way up!!!

I absolutely love that mobile. Love.
I may need to have a child just so I can get that mobile in my life.
That rocking chair is awesome! And as always, love the mobile. Now the only question is: how silly would it look hanging in my library until we have non-furry four-legged kids? I’m kidding. Kind of.
