I’m going to continue the IDA RED theme today with a little redesign! I started out doing the rock n’ roll boutique’s window displays and after some positive feedback, the owner was happy to let me get my hands on the rest of the store! As you can imagine, I was thrilled. We decided to break the store down into different departments and give each section a unique and dramatic design of it’s own! Today I am revealing the music station!
IDA RED is associated with the legendary “CAIN’S BALLROOM” – which is one of the top performance venues in the music scene here in Tulsa and even the world! So, naturally the store sells all sorts of local music CD’s and even features local bands on the weekends.
The main issues I needed to address in this section was poster and CD storage/display space. For the posters, I created a wall of floating shelves that can highlight different bands and act as a rotating art gallery. The flat file underneath the shelves holds all the additional posters that are for sale.
For the CD’s, I wanted to create something that would have a visual impact and also be able to hold a whole lot of product. I feel like the boxes above achieve exactly that, from the way they are hung to the industrial style “L” braces. I really love how they turned out!
On top of the flat file you can find featured CD’s, books, DVD’s, and even vinyl records. I jazzed up an old speaker by removing it’s front and painting the center a rock n’ roll silver. Of course, it’s not functional for playing music, but it does provide another level to put product on!
If you’re into the music scene, you definitely need to check out IDA RED!! I’ll be revealing a few other sections in the store in the coming days and weeks.
Here’s one last look!

Wow this looks amazing! Well done Kara!
