A Wild Hair

A Wild Hair

Hey Friends!  Do you ever just get a wild hair and want to do something off the wall?  I’m always wanting to do crazy stuff when it comes to design. . . but I am much less comfortable making a statement when it comes to fashion.

I may be changing that very soon though. . .

You see, lately I’ve really been itching to make a change. I’m a little bored with my look.  Since I’ve finally found a hair cut that I’m happy with, I don’t really want to mess with that. But hair color. . .  that’s a different story.  I started out thinking I wanted a regular dye job- you know, light and dark carmel tones to go in and spice up my boring, brown hair.  But then, I started to think about some photos I’ve seen lately of girls with lilac hair, like Kelly Osbourne. . .

I think that look is absolutely gorgeous!!!!  So once Kelly’s hair came to mind, I started googling other crazy colored dye jobs.  It’s not a surprise that the pictures I found made me want to hop on this bandwagon even more!  Take a look at what I found. . .

Ok, those are amazing right!!!?  I made a facebook post last night asking if I were crazy to try this trend out for myself.  So far, all I’ve got is supportive feedback!  Is anyone going to talk me down off this ledge!?  I’m about to jump head first into a dye bath of purple, pink, blue or green!

Seriously, what do you guys think?  Maybe just dip dye the ends to try things out?  Go for a whole head of pastel pink? Let me know!!!

don’t do it! I dyed my hair since i was 15 now I’m 25 and it’s a pain in the ass to maintain mainly those crazy colors only look good the first week and then your hair ends very damage and with a yelowish color from the bleach 🙁

I’d give it a try! I think if you go to a really good stylist they can cover it up if you decide you don’t like it! And as long as you are not bleaching it often the actual hair color is good for your hair – it conditions deeply and I love how silky and smooth my hair is after I have color put on. It’s the bleach that is hard on it. And as long as your hubby is on board go for it!

DO IT!!! It’s just hair … you can change it again and it grows back. Dip-dyed ends are super “in” right now and the trendy-ness of it perfectly suits you, your style, and the biz you are in.

Just a little fair warning from a stylist for you before you dive head first into colored hair. Bleaching it will change the texture of your hair and how it styles. What I mean by that is your curls won’t have that same springiness wherever you bleach it. Have you ever seen those girls with over processed curly hair where the ends aren’t really curly? That’s what happened. I don’t think one bleach process will ruin your curls, but make sure to have a good colorist do it for you. Maybe find a salon that uses Pravana, they have excellent fashion colors that actually stay in the hair.
Secondly, if after you try some hair chalk and like it I would suggest dip dyeing or an ombré technique that you don’t have to touch up so often. That way if you don’t want to keep it you don’t have to dye your whole head.
    Good luck!

When I first started reading, I thought, “It’s February 1st, not April 1st!” No offense, but I totally thought you were joking! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I am not one to give hair advice since I wear mine the same way every day, never color it, and have even started cutting it myself, but I think the ladies who suggested trying hair chalk or extensions first have the right idea.

It is just hair, though, and it will grow out, so if you really want to do it, then go for it! 🙂

I have purple and pink hair at the moment and I LOVE IT!! If you are going to do it you do need to realise it does take maintenance. I use the Directions range of colors. They are a conditioning semi and packed full of color. And when it starts to fade out you can do what I do. Just put a pair of gloves on and a small smidge of color and just wipe a bit more of the color onto the hair that has dropped the color and leave for 20 mins, shampoo and condition DONE!!

I think you should absolutely do it!
P.S. I’m pretty sure I just saw you and Tim in a Mazzio’s commercial. I had a show on DVR and was fast forwarding through the commercial, but actually recognized you by your hair, ironic, and rewinded to see if it really was you guys. You looked gorgeous!

I think colored hair is a great idea, currently mine is completely teal and I love it! Yes bleaching can change texture, but your stylist can fix that with different conditioners or keratin treatments. So I don’t find it a problem. Personally I go to Erin Hall at Locks salon on Brookside

here is my take, i just went from dark brown more like black to BLOND, like really brown, i used bleach that i got from Sally beauty, it is a kit for highlight ( yellow package ) not sure but i think called Brilliant blond it is by loreal ( i loved it) u need to follow instruction, dont apply to the roots first, I used 30 vol developer, my hair turned soooooooooo light, then I followed by Medium blond, with 20 Vol developer I used after few day, a protine conditioner called ION, i would not do Keratin yet, only if my hair is long, if u can wait after bleach for a day or 2 and do some of this treatment u will be happy with outcome, post picture 🙂
I am 42 and i did major change, u can go for it
