AWESOME SNAPSHOP GIVEAWAY!!!

AWESOME SNAPSHOP GIVEAWAY!!!
IMG_0393
It is Tim here today to announce an incredible giveaway. I know many of our readers already know about Ashely Ann and her blog. Well, Kara and I are lucky enough to actually know Ashely Ann in real life, but have still never been quick enough to successfully sign up for one of her SnapShop classes. We bought a DSLR a couple of months ago, but only used it to take pictures for the blog because we didn’t know how to use it. I didn’t want to waste time trying look up tutorials online, because I knew eventually I would make it too a SnapShop.
So when Ashley announced that she would be introducing a beta version of her online snap shots, I hatched a plan to procure a slot. I needed something I could use to bribe her. I remembered her commenting that she liked the key holder/coat rack that I had made for Kara. I would have made one for her then, but didn’t have anymore knobs. I decided I should run back to our local habitat for humanity restore and see if they had restocked.

Luckily they had and I was able to get all of the knobs for $2. While I was there I also came across this beauty. I know a lot of you are suckers for flat files like us. I will need to replace the top on this one, but for $20 I was pleased.

It was definitely a lucky day, because they had just unloaded all of this 7 inch reclaimed oak flooring and Kara let us eat lunch at my favorite mexican food restaurant. I didn’t buy all of the flooring, but I got enough for a project we have going on. Hopefully I will be able to show that in a couple of weeks.

After hauling everything home I got back to my plan. This is the version of the key holder/coat rack that I was able to make and offer Ashley.

I am afraid it was out of pity, but she accepted and thus I got chance to access her online SnapShop in exchange for my feedback. Just like the last couple of trades she has made with us, we came out way ahead.

I went through the entire first lesson the first night I was allowed. I tried really hard to read as a reviewer and not as a student, but I failed miserably. There was so much information that was new to me that I would focus on remembering it and forget to read critically.

When I finished it, I had two things I was going to suggest for her. I got done writing my email to Ashley and had Kara read it before I sent it. She said, “Do you really think she was looking for advice on these small of things.” I had to explain to Kara that normally I wouldn’t have mentioned such minor things, but I didn’t want to send in nothing and have Ashley think I didn’t take my job as a beta tester seriously.

All this to say, I highly recommend this course. I don’t know how previous SnapShop students digested all the information in one Saturday. I enjoyed getting to progress through the lessons at my own pace, trying things out, and then coming back to review. Ashley not only covers how to shoot in manual mode with your DSLR, but shows you how to compose and capture “the story” of the picture. I think this course is a great way to develop some new skills and invest in yourself. The payoff of beautiful pictures to help collect family memories is well worth the cost.

Ashley will be offering this online version for $200, but for the first month she is offering it at an introductory price of $150.
She has graciously offered us the opportunity to give one away here on our blog. All you need to do to enter is become a “follower” of our blog and then leave us a comment letting us know you did. If you already follow us, leave us a comment and let us know that.
If you want another chance to enter go over to our facebook page to “like” us and then leave us a comment to let us know. Same things as before, if you already like us just let us know.
The giveaway will end midnight Sunday July 24th and we will announce the winner Monday morning. That way everyone will still have time to register if they need to.
Thanks again to Ashley for letting us put on this giveaway and to all of you out there, you are welcome. I know you will thank me once you have taken part in SnapShops.

Ive been following for a while and i love your blog, but thats not why Im writing…
I just wanted to say that I am SO Jealous of your habitat resale stores, hardware stores, and other thrifty type resale stores.
My mother had a doorknob coat hanger in our house while I was growing up, Ive been trying to collect old fashioned door knobs, cabinet knobs and anything I can get my hands on for about 6 months now and have come up with three. I feel I could be so much more creative with my home if I lived within 800 miles of the nearest lowes…
That being said your DIY tutorials are all very good and Ive been appreciating them immensely. If you are ever in Nome, Alaska I would love for you to come see my new mason jar pendant light!

I’m trying to be a follower but my Android blog widget reader thingy makes your posts come out in coderather than words and pictures. But it does this for a few others too so I’m sure the problem is on my end. So instead I have you bookmarked and come here that way.
Would LOVE to do an online photography class to use my dslr properly! How great!
Also can’t wait to pass on your blog to another DIY/graphic designer/furniture reclaimer friend of mine. Beautiful stuff here!
