Ok, so last week I said I would be highlighting my husband and his incredible handiwork. . . but then I got sidetracked with the million other things I had to pull together for “Clean Slate.” But now I am back and ready to show you some seriously cool creations!!!!
You’ve already seen Tim’s cool concrete tabletop, now take a look at this modern media console. This was actually the first piece of furniture Tim ever built and if you will believe it, the only tools he had available at the time were a circular saw, sander, and drill!!! If you know anything about creating quality furniture, it is absolutely incredible that Tim concocted this high end piece with NO shop and NO special tools.
Tim designed and built this piece, then I helped him finish it off by using an oil based paint. Quick tip- oil based paints stand up to all sorts of wear and tear but getting a perfect finish requires some practice. Be sure to do a little research before you start to paint your piece. Maybe I will do a tutorial in the future! Yes, I think I will.
Tim crafted this piece for his best friends that had just got hitched, so he wanted it to be extra special and super sleek. Therefore, he integrated lighting into the piece that can easily be controlled by a touch pad “built in” on the top shelf. You can see it in the left back corner.
When the sun goes down and the overhead lights go off, this piece takes center stage in the office. As you walk by the door it grabs your attention and really is just beautiful to look at.
More to come!!!

I love the finish on this, and red with it!
That is really cool!
Very nice! Wanna trade husbands for a weekend? Mine plays a mean saxophone! I would love your tutorial on painting furniture. My attempts as of late have been somewhat disasterous.
