Hey Friends! Today I am showing the beginning stages of a makeover that I started a few weeks back!
The family I’m working with recently moved into their new home and they weren’t feeling the vibe the living room was putting out. So, they called me with hopes that I could bring some of their personality into the space. Here’s the room we started with…
BEFORE
The goldish-beige paint color was way too traditional and and the room was lacking the character this fun family desired. After speaking with the homeowners, we settled on a style. A “contemporary farmhouse” is the look we are headed for! It will have a rustic charm mixed with modern pieces. And of course, we’ll layer it up with color and character filled accessories!
But first things first! We had to set a good base with some architectural upgrades! Here’s how the room looks now….
AFTER
As you can see, we added some large, wooden beams to bring attention to the vaulted ceiling and to create a more intimate, farmhous-y feel. More wood was brought in to adorn the fireplace wall. It adds a beautiful, rustic texture and draws attention to the main focal wall of the space. The fireplace surround/mantle was made over and given a much more contemporary look with clean, squared off lines. Oh, and the whole room got a new coat of paint!
We’re not quite done with the fireplace and we’re certainly not finished with the room! Stay tuned to see it come together in the next few weeks!

Ooh! It looks way cooler already! Nice updates!
It’s so sophisticated now! I especially like the fireplace surround.
love the modern mantel against the beautiful paint color. can’t wait to see the finished room!
I am so excited to see what you are going to do with this room!
