Most of us don’t have record players anymore, but that doesn’t mean we should banish all albums to the basement or trash can. No, use them in your home decor by creating bowls with a beat!! 🙂
1. Turn your oven to 275 degrees.
3. Once the oven is pre-heated put the records in for 4 minutes or until they are pliable.
4. Shape your bowl. You can do this two different ways: by hand (with oven mitts of course) or by sandwiching the record between two bowls will form the shape. You can see this below.
5. They end up looking like this. Cool decorative bowls perfect for any space.
But I’m actually going to create pendant lights out of mine to use in a local shop focused on the music scene. Pics of that to come.
WARNING: I have read that the fumes released by the records can be harmful. Make sure you have adequate ventilation in your kitchen and only do a few at a time.
Have you done anything unique with records? I would love to hear about it.

I bought my mom a record bowl once that was perfectly round and lovely, then it sat in a hot car during my college graduation (whoops!) and I could only ever get it back to this shape (which is also lovely).
Can’t wait to see what they look like as lights!
Don’t forget, if you don’t like the shape -toss it back in the oven to try again. Can be reheated time and time again. I am also a fan of the square “valet” look.
Don’t forget! You can toss the record back into the oven to reshape an infinite amount of times. I also like the square “valet” shape for my keys and wallet. Just pinch the corners up.
we made these in kindergarten (in the 60’s) the teacher spray painted them gold and silver. LOVE the idea for a light fixture!!!!
