One of the main goals in my designs is to push boundaries- to do things that are unexpected and completely unique. Of course, being different is not my only concern. I want my rooms to be beautiful and to feel genuine, not forced. One of my favorite quotes is “It’s one thing to make a space beautiful, it’s quite another to make it memorable.” And going further than that, “It’s one thing to make a space memorable, it’s quite another to make it inspiring.”
I’ve been inspired lately by Kelly Wearstler. If you live in the design world, there’s a great chance you know her name. Kelly pushes the envelop by combining endless textures and patterns. As I was browsing her portfolio, I was encouraged to not be so concerned with rules and to do what feels natural to me. Although I can appreciate a simplistic design, it’s the layer upon layer of color, shapes, texture, and light that really make me fall in love. Kelly’s rooms have all that.
Below are a few of my favorites from Kelly’s portfolio, but you can click here to see all of her projects.
Have a lovely weekend and stay inspired!!
