Today, I have a fun and fashionable DIY to share! This spring I was cleaning out my closets and set these two polo styled shirts to the side to get rid of. Then I had an idea.
Ashley Ann DIYed a project that stuck in my head a while ago. It was the fabric cuff bracelet.
Well, I thought I could make my own version with the cuff from these old polo shirts!
Here’s how you can make your own!
Step 1- Cut the cuff’s off the shirts and removed the button.
Step 2. Cut a piece of complimentary fabric about 2x the length of the cuff.
Step 3- Sew the edges of the complimentary fabric to create a clean edge.
Step 4- Next, pin the complimentary fabric in a ruffled position onto the cuff. Or just ruffle/fold the fabric as you push it through the machine. PS- the fabric piece below does not have a clean sewn edge because I was recreating the photo after the fact.
Afterward it should look something like this. Mine is admittedly not perfect!
Step 5- Add buttons. I sewed mine on by hand and chose to go with an assortment.
Step 6- Last you need to create the button hole. I know there are talented ladies out there that know how to do this with a sewing machine, but I do not. So, I just sliced through the fabric with some scissors and then used some no frey/no sew stuff (from hobby lobby) to keep the edges from unraveling. Very unprofessional I know, but it worked for me.
Here’s the finished product!
Kinda cute, right?
I’d love to see if you come up with a different version!

Very cute, Kara! If I ever show my sewing machine who is boss I’ll definitely try making some.
I like it! Really fun, and I like the simplicity of using the shirts already fashioned button closure! Genius!
So cute! Wish I could whip up some right now! Grr… I will have to wait till 6.
so creative! i like this a lot!
