ENCOURAGEMENTS AND DISAPPOINTMENTS

If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I have had some exciting stuff happen this month. There have been both disappointments and great encouragements.

First, I received and e-mail from HGTV.com because they wanted to feature a few of my headboards on their site!!! So exciting to know I am on their radar! The story hasn’t posted yet, but I will let you know as soon as it does!!!

Second, I received word from Grace at Design Sponge that she was considering making me part of her Sneak Peak team (this team finds and features amazing houses from all over the world)!

Apparently there were about 1,000 applicants and I made all the way to the top ten. And even though I didn’t end up being Grace’s final choice, I am honored to have been so seriously considered! Of course, it is always hard when you are not chosen, but I believe things happen for a reason. I wanted to share this disappointment and hopefully encourage those of you that are trying to achieve your own dreams. Things don’t always go our way, but if we keep our eyes on the prize and continue to work our dreams WILL come true! My friend Ashely from under the Sycamore sent me this text when I told her the bad news, “The perfect thing will come, hang in there.” Thank you Ashley, I do think the perfect thing will come. All I have to do is just keep pushing forward, taking one step at a time.

Thanks for this post. So often we are presented with the end product and forget there are hardships along the way or how much work it really took for someone to get there. I don’t believe people accomplish anything by luck even if they’ve had a lucky break. For someone like myself who has not accomplished nearly as much as you it is reassuring to know everyone, even the greats, can’t accomplish everything in one day. Keep going. You’ve got the talent and exposure now you just need to get to that next level.
