It is a rare occurrence to come across clients and/or friends like Julia and Jason. The confidence they displayed in my abilities from the very beginning made this project extremely fun and I think the result was quite fabulous!
The couple expressed their thoughts and feelings with me saying that since Jason was just finishing a fellowship (he’s a super smart M.D.) there was a good chance a new job might call the family to a new city or even state! Therefore they wanted to make improvements that would increase the value of the home, but still have enough character to make them happy if they were called to stay in T-town!

I am happy to report that the plan Tim and I put in place has pleased the Leinen family and is sure to leave any future house hunters longing to spend some time in the beautiful space.
Two things I had to keep in mind when designing this space was the lack of storage and the lack of space. Light paint colors, a new clear glass shower door, an open vanity, storage baskets, a bigger mirror, and recessed shelves all helped to address these issues.

And of course, I had to add something that was unexpected and unique. I custom painted glass backsplash was just the ticket. I will be posting a glass backsplash “how-to” next month if anybody is interested in the process!
Although I certainly understand when clients have strong opinions it was really great to work with Julia who would often say, “Whatever you think is best!” That almost never happens in my line of work! And can you believe she kept apologizing for not having a strong point of view! I will let you in on a little secret, I like to be in control! 🙂
P.S. I will work on getting some better pictures! It was night when I took the afters, so the before pics almost look lighter and brighter!

You hand painted that?? Beautiful! The bathroom looks great.
I’ve been thinking about a clear shower door to update my 1994 bathroom. What do you do with all the stuff, shampoo, conitioner, razor, etc.though? And where do you hang wet towels?
Gorgeous bathroom. It looks doable for not a ton of money. Thanks for the inspiration.
I’m here via The Lettered Cottage. What a great transformation. We’re currently working on our two bathrooms and I love to see what other people do.
Hello Anonymous,
There are a couple things I try to implement to keep things looking tidy when using a clear shower door.
1. Use clean simple containers that feel spa-esque. If your products don’t already come in nice bottles, buy some that you can refill over and over.
2. We keep things that we don’t use everyday out of the shower altogether and just take them in with us as we need them.
3. We try to downsize the amount of product we need by using 2 in 1 products (ex shampoo plus conditioner)
Hope this helps!!! 🙂
Those turned out nice. I love the black basket under the sink. I’m headed to explore your blog further.
