FROM 80’s to ELEGANT LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER- ADRIANNE AT DREAM BOOK DESIGN
Do you love a good Before and After? If so, you are in for a treat today!!! Adrianne from Dream Book Design is about to make you swoon, so settle in and try not to get to envious! 🙂

Hi Kara Paslay readers! Its so nice to meet you! We are Adrianne and Jeremy from Dream Book Design. We are so excited that Kara is having us over today, so i’ll let you know a little about who you are checking out. J and I have been married for 2 1/2 years, and have been living in our home now for 1 1/2 years. Our love for DIY projects and home furnishings all began when we knew the house we would be in would be old {we LOVE old!}. Our house was built in ’52 and we got it in a decent condition, but throughout the past year and a half we have transformed it quite a bit. We have a love for all things that are a bargain, antique, and unique.

While on Kara’s amazing site were going to show you our Family Room Makeover. It is definitely the room we use the most, so we spent a lot of time remodeling it. This room started out pretty bleak and boring, and we have changed it up to incorporate a lot of our personalities, while keeping it functional and comfortable, because who wouldn’t want that?! Now maybe for some people the tile, plastic curtains, and track lighting work, but NOT for us! The first task was getting the tile out, and smoothing out the top half of all the walls. If you have had the luxury of never living in your home while replacing the floors- you are lucky! Let me tell you, its not fun.See:

Once the beautiful wood was in, we got to painting. Some wonder why we didn’t paint first, and there are two reasons for us. One: we knew the floors were the biggest task at hand, since we installed them throughout the whole house, so that was priority #1. Two: because we were had to take off the baseboards for the new floor, we need we would have to repaint them once installed. We painted every inch of this room {more like every inch of the house}, the ceiling, walls, baseboards, trim, etc.

Next up was installing the wainscoting. This is my favorite part of our house. It took forever and a day to get it all up, but so worth it. Also we then installed an electric fireplace. For all of you out there that have a real wood burning one, I am envious!! J did an amazing job though of adding a base to the fireplace to make it look like it has always been a part of the room. The fireplace when we first got it looked like this:

Finally we finished with adding new curtains, decorations, and overall finishing touches. What do you think??

We hope you love it as much as we do! Thanks for reading about us, and for more info. make sure to check us out at Dream Book Design!

Oh my goodness, who knew a portable fireplace could be so elegant! This house definitely went through an incredible transformation shedding it’s “stuck in the 80’s look” for a warm and inviting atmosphere! Absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing Adrianne!

    Adrianne!

Great makeover – it looks fabulous! I love the patterns of the material on both of the chairs.

I totally feel you about painting every inch of the house. My husband and I just finished painting ours as well. As in, baseboards, trim, walls, closets, etc. It’s painful while it’s happening, but when you’re done the house just feels so clean and new!
