Hangin’ With The Masterful Maker- Jimmy Diresta

As I’ve mentioned, Tim and I just got back from a great trip to NYC.   The main goal of the trip was to have fun and get inspired.  Once I found out we were for sure headed to the Big Apple, I knew there was something I wanted to try to make happen while we were there.

Meet Jimmy Diresta….

There are few people in the  world with as much talent and skill as Jimmy.  Tim started following Jimmy’s work a while ago and quickly became a fan of this masterful maker.  Jimmy has had a few shows on DIY/HGTV including Trash To Cash, Hammered, and Dirty Money.

Anyway, Jimmy actually lives in New York City so I thought I would reach out on the off chance that he would be willing to meet with us and talk “shop.”  Tim had actually been in contact with Jimmy before when he sent him a custom wooden bow tie, so my reaching out wasn’t completely out of the blue, but I still wasn’t sure that Jimmy would have the time or desire to chat with us.

To my delight, Jimmy responded to my request and said “Come on over!” I was so excited because I rarely come up with a surprise that I know Tim will be excited about, but I was positive that setting up a meeting for this bromance to bloom was something Tim would just love!

So, during our trip, we met up with Jimmy, toured his shop, talked tv shows, and got inspired by listening to his great stories and seeing all the projects he’s currently working on!  Speaking off projects, Jimmy has a crazy cool portfolio! Check out some of these pieces he’s created in the past- everything from beautifully crafted furniture to a AK47 guitar (yeah, you read that right).  Take a look and be amazed….
