A few months ago, a lovely couple contacted me because they were following their dreams to open a brand new workout facility. They didn’t want this to be just any gym, they wanted it to have character. They asked me to help them create an atmosphere that people would actually want to come to and hang out in. Let’s just admit it, most people hate going to the gym so wouldn’t it be nice to create an place that inspires them? I think so! I did design boards for a number of rooms, but here is the one I did for the men’s locker room.
Most gyms (maybe all) these days are not at all concerned with design, but they would do well to know that design definitely has a place in the exercise arena. For example, certain colors increase strength and certain shapes increase energy.
For the locker room, I wanted to create a very manly space that the gentlemen there would come in to and feel extra manly! 🙂 For that reason, I used a lot of rustic, dark stained wood and industrial type metals. The lockers are aged, the pendant lights over the sinks are caged (some of them anyway), and the wood wall behind the sinks is reclaimed.
I can’t wait to see the finished product and I will be sure to post all about it when the business owners finish the project!

I love this! my boyfriend and i want to open a gym someday and i cant wait to design it:) i definitely want something tough and rougher like what you found.
I love this look! Especially that sink. I have 6 kids and I think a similar feel would be great for a family bathroom.
I LOVE the trough sink! Would you recommend that for a kitchen?
I love trough sinks and think that they work both from a functional and form perspective! So, yes if you like the look Yanet and Lisa I say “Go for it!!”
