Mini Makeover- Rusty to Refined Metal Stool Makeover

Mini Makeover- Rusty to Refined Metal Stool Makeover
I bought this stool a while back at a flea market. I am pretty much a sucker for vintage metal stools. Generally I like the character of a chippy, rusty stool, but the top coat paint color of this particular seat just didn’t suit me. So, I decided to refinish it.

First, I started by using a metal putty knife to scrape off the loose paint and rust.

Next, I used a heavy 60 grit sandpaper and my electric sander to really take some layers off.
I could have kept sanding and gotten all the way back to the original metal, but I stopped once the surface was smooth to the touch.

Then it was time for spray paint! I am also a sucker for champagne gold spray paint, so I thought a champagne gold vintage metal stool would be to die for! 🙂 haha

And once everything was dry I put the stool in its place!

More about this fun new set-up later! Until then, do you like the stool?!

I love the stool! I use that color on other things – frames, pottery, etc., but never would have thought to use it on a stool. Great idea!
