I haven’t posted a design board in a while, so I thought I would show off one that I am particularly in love with! Amanda contacted me because she and her husband were looking to create a space where they could both relax and feel at home.
In order for both husband and wife to love their space, I needed to somehow blend touches of masculinity and femininity in a way that created a cohesive space.
I did that by offsetting the dark masculine colors with metallic pieces. I also paired curvy, feminine furniture pieces with dark heavy furniture pieces. You can see that one side of the bed boasts a vanity make-up space for the lady while the other side shows off the hubby’s photography!
The dark, cave like colors keep the calm while pops of color come from pillows, books, and accessories to keep things interesting. And of course I have to mention the fabulous focal wall behind the bed. To make a statement I suggested the couple apply a graphic wall paper to the whole wall, in stripes behind the two bedside tables, or just behind the headboard to give it more height and presence.
Amanda has been hard at work implementing the plan, so I hope to have after pictures soon!!!
We’re about 75% done and are taking a break for the holidays with travel and such – but I was just thinking that I should send along an update! We are loving seeing it come together – thank you thank you!!
