Happy Monday! Tim and I had a busy weekend. My aunt (Jen) and cousin (Jess), who is now a junior in high school, came to stay with us. They came because Jess is considering accepting a scholarship offer to play basketball at TU! I am very excited about possibly having a “Pongonis” (that’s my maiden name) back on Tulsa’s court! 🙂
Anyway with family in town, you might imagine we didn’t have time to work. Well, we didn’t but we made time. You see, Tim and I just signed a contract to design a new coffee shop coming in around these parts! As you can imagine we’re pretty pumped to work on such a fun project, especially since the owners want a “British West Indies” vibe!
So, instead of writing blogs this weekend- I was creating design boards for multiple spaces within the coffee house. I thought I share just a portion of one that I created with you.
Of course there is a whole lot more than furniture and accessories going into this space. Tim and I have some fun and unique ideas up our sleeves! Think rope walls, coffee bean backsplashes, and secret hideout nooks!
We have been thinking long and hard about what we would want in the perfect coffee shop as well as asking Facebook friends and followers to chime in with their opinions! Things like fire places, comfortable seating, lots of electric outlets, a showcase space for local artists’ work, great books, and more have been suggested. Do you have anything to add? We love to hear what you envision the perfect coffee house to include!
Check back tomorrow- I will have a week full of fun DIY ideas! (Here’s a little sneak peak!)

Smart coffee shop owners to get you guys on board! Can’t think of anyone who could do a better job.
How fun! I love your blog. I’m a newbie follower & even though I have a party blog, I love the way you use everyday items to create extraordinary scenes. I had a question about your mood board…I’ve been looking for a cowskin or whatever kind of rug that is in the mood board for our guest room. We have a moose head over the bed & I’ve been looking for a rug for over 6 months. I will not accept any other rug. ;p Would you mind telling me where I can buy that rug? Thanks so much! Again…love you guys! Heidi Rew from PartiesforPennies.blogspot.com
I agree that was a smart coffee shop owner to get you guys to do his shop! I love the idea of plenty of comfy places to lounge with my freinds on girls-night-out. the one nice coffee shop I’ve gone to around here only has about 2 couch areas and they are always full.
I love that. It sort of reminds me of a coffee shop near us (though they’re not British Isles themed as much as earthy organic… but the colors definitely give off a similar vibe).
Also, I the tufted sofa (my favorite) and an animal rug are very much my style. The next rug I buy is actually going to be a metallic animal rug… I think they’re amazing and just what my house needs.
Hope you had fun with your family =)
Congrats! That has got to be very exciting for you two. I am excited to see what you create.
You’ve seen the coffee shop in Tontitown that has the table I like. I also like the rustic/modern look that Tim’s designs have. I can see all of his tables being in a coffee shop. Personally, I like a feeling of privacy in a coffee shop. They are great places to gather with friends, but people also go there to be alone, and there needs to be spaces that provide that privacy.
I think the perfect coffee house would have a game table in the corner and a shelf of games that people could come and enjoy while they drink their beverage. Maybe I would stay and buy another… and another if the game was good! Plus it offers a good alternative of entertainment to mischievous teens. Keeping them out of trouble and caffeinated…
