WOW! Tim and I are overwhelmed with the giveaway response we have received so far (you have until Sunday to sign up)! We are so thankful to Ashley for allowing us to give away such a wonderful gift. We love you Ashley!
Since there are so many new readers to the blog, Tim and I invite you to visit the About Us section to learn a little more about who we are, what we do, and where we’re going! We’re so excited to have you here, so thanks for joining us!!!
Today I am sharing another before and after from the Clean Slate house this year. The family that we were able to help had three children. I showed you the girls’ posh bunk bed set up earlier this week and now I get to share what we were able to accomplish for the young son/brother of the family.
Since we moved the girls to a different room, I decided to move the son’s room as well. He took over his sisters’ old room.
This is what the brother’s old room looked like before.
If you look close, you can see that this young gun is crazy about Nascar! He had posters, hats, and car models galore. Of course, I took note of this and made sure his favorite sport would be highlighted in his new room!
This is what the girls’ room (that we moved the brother into) looked like before we made it all boy!
And here’s the After!
Before, all the brother’s collectables were present, but they were lacking a presence. What I mean is everything was spread out throughout the room. To make collections stand out, they should be grouped together. If you notice, I had all the posters hung on one wall behind the bed to create a massive collage. I felt like this solution celebrated the boy’s interest while keeping his room from looking too cluttered and kiddish.
Another really great addition to the room was the stock car hood that I had hung as the headboard! The hood was signed with love by a real race car driver!
The boy’s other major collection (model cars) was combined and now sits on 4 stylish shelves from IKEA.
Other fun and very appropriate additions to the room were a stop light (which I wanted to make a working lamp but ran out of time), a nightstand made from old tires, and a collectable racing jacket that is proudly displayed on the wall.
Like I said before, I really would have loved to have more time to perfect this room as well as the rest of the Clean Slate house. But I did what I could with the time I had and I feel like this room made a definite improvement as well as being a place the young Nascar fan will enjoy for years to come. He even shed a few tears when he saw it. . . isn’t that sweet! 🙂
Do you have any “themed” rooms in your home that deserve some love? Send me some photos! I’d love to feature them right here on the blog!
Stay tuned- next week I’ve got a new Anthro display to share!

I love how you made the room perfect for a boy, but still very stylish. Great Job!
