I wanted to share a little project I worked on for a local business a while ago. You guys know I like to keep things fresh and am always up for something a little out of the ordinary. JD Young is a company committed to “document solutions.” They wanted me to create 4 rooms/nooks that would represent each department within their business. So, my love for setting a scene came into play and I was able to come up with some creative ideas to really make these spaces memorable.
The first department displayed is the Warehouse department.
To really give it an authentic feel I used traditional warehouse materials such as: metal sheeting, shipping palettes and boxes, a hard hat, safety vest, and a sign in clipboard.
The second department is accounting. I really had some fun with this one.
I layered play money on the wall creating this really cool textural effect. Then I printed out some pie graphs and overlapped them to make it feel a little more artsy. For even more texture I included a printing calculator with a billowing receipt roll.
The third department was Marketing.
I started by putting up a faux brick wall and painting it white. I then built a modern looking desk and hung an inspiration board for all the marketing ideas. Instead of it having a lot of inspiration pics however, it has taken on the roll of displaying some of JD Young’s clients.
The last room represented human resources. . . and unfortunately I found it VERY difficult to come up with something creative for this department. So, I just tried to use some good colors and create a mini gallery wall with office awards, the JD Young softball team pic, and safety regulations.

great job Kara! Love it 🙂
