Hey there Friends! Today I have a simple, but striking makeover to share with you! I picked up this chair at a flea market a while ago…..
I was taken with the chair’s form and knew that with a little love, it could go from looking like a vintage vagabond to a classic, chic piece with very little effort! For my transformation, I called on black Rit Dye and Benjamin Moore’s Molten Metallic Paint (you know I love that stuff)!
Black and gold is a favorite combo of mine. It just works.
I dyed the chair upholstery by mixing the dye with water and brushing it (with a paint brush) onto the piece. After I achieved the desired deepness of color, I let the piece dry completely and then used scotch guard to lock the dye/color in.
After that I brushed two coats of my gold metallic paint onto the chair base. This amazing paint sticks to almost anything and leaves an extremely durable finish. You can pick some up at your local Spectrum Paint!!
Here’s what the chair looks like now in it’s black and gold glory!!
Such an easy transformation! No special skills or expensive reupholstering required! Yay!
‘Til tomorrow!
Beautiful!
