The dresser below didn’t always look like this. . .
It used to look like this.
Then I modified the the legs, painted it a high gloss white, and changed out the hardware to get this. . .
Although I liked that look much better, I still felt like the piece was missing something. The solution: SILVER LEAFING. The process is actually pretty easy and the outcome is gorgeous (in my opinion).
Here is the product I used. You can find it at your local craft store, I got mine at Michael’s.
You can apply it to be a solid silver coating, but I liked a little less coverage which made it seem like it had been worn off over time, which was perfect for the “rustic glamour” feel I was going for!
For all of you who have sent me e-mails requesting ideas for designing/decorating apartments and all the issues that come with renting- stay tuned. Next week I will give you some easy and inexpensive ideas and advice!

Ooo I love that scruffy look. Are you planning on taking all the furniture and decor when y’all move and using it the new place?
I’m in love with the framed antlers!
I love the dresser redo! I have to ask, where did you get those flowers and are they real? I love the room!
Hey Ladies!
Liz- I plan on taking a few things, but I will probably get rid of a lot. You can put in a bid on anything you like! 🙂
Amanda- The flowers are actually made from tissue paper. I love flowers that never die! 🙂
Thanks Life in Rehab!
I too love flowers that never die. Did you make them? If so, can you make a tutorial or direct me to one? Thanks for all the inspiration!
Hey Amanda! Yes, I did make the “flowers.” This link shows you how to make complete pom-poms. http://karapaslaydesigns.blogspot.com/2009/11/pom-pom-power.html
So, just don’t stick the poufs into the Styrofoam ball and you have flowers. Don’t worry this will all make since when you watch the video. 🙂
I’m so confused! Did you add drawers to the dresser? It had two before–and now it has six?
