THANKFUL FOR. . .

What am I thankful for? SO MANY THINGS, but I’ll highlight one thing in particular. I am SO thankful that I was raised in home where ever since I can remember I was told “You can do anything. You can be anything you want to be. If you work hard, you CAN achieve your dreams!” Yes, I am SO thankful that I had parents that not only said that, but believed it.
It hurts my heart to think that some children are made to feel worthless, dumb, inadequate, and like they are nothing special- especially in their own homes. That’s why this new commercial caught my eye and I felt it was worthy of sharing today.

Katy Perry’s new song “Firework” also has me singing at the top of my lungs every time because I believe in it’s message so deeply. If you are one of those more pessimistic (you might say realistic) parents, I challenge you not to put those boundaries on your kids. You never know who is growing up in your home. Let them dream and let them dream BIG. And then help them. Encourage them, urge them, and challenge them. Believe me, they too will be thankful you did.

Kara, I love the quote you just gave us at the end of this post. If you don’t mind, I would love to quote you on that. We really don’t know who our kids will grow into, and I would hate to think that I stifled who they were meant to be with my “grown up realistic thinking”.

Hey Tricia! I don’t mind if you quote me at all! I am glad that your children will grow up in a home where they are encouraged to go after their dreams!! 🙂
