First let me say- Thank you to all that took the time to comment! I really, really appreciate it!
I have read through the comments about how to make this blog better for all of you- my beloved readers!! Here’s the consensus and the changes you can expect to see in the coming months!
- Everyone seems to enjoy the DIY posts, Before and Afters, and Makeovers the most. No big surprise here. I will try to post as many of these as possible. I would love for you (my readers) to send photos of things you would like to buy but are too expensive and I will try to come up with ways to replicate the look on the cheap (then of course tell you how I did it)!
For example- you could send me this photo and ask how you can create this Pottery Barn Clock for a lot less!

- No more videos- it seems bloggers would much rather read than watch videos- imagine that! 🙂 So, I will not be posting videos on the blog anymore, however Tim and I’s goal is to have our own design show so we will continue to make videos. We will be creating a “channel” on You Tube to hopefully find an audience that prefers watching rather than reading.
- To hopefully encourage more interaction I have made commenting easier than ever. There are no more security words for posts less than 2 weeks old. There was a suggestion that I take reader’s design dilemmas and discuss possible solutions on the blog. I think that sounds like an interesting idea- so let’s try it! Feel free to e-mail me photos and a brief summary of the issues you are having!
- Most of you want more Tim. And although I have tried talking him into helping my out on the blog before, I think all of your support is really going to help him dive into the world of blogging! 🙂
- Most of you are not interested in the blog covering fashion, but many of you would enjoy some entertaining ideas (basically decorating for parties, celebrations, ect). I do love decorating, however I rarely entertain (because that means I have to cook, and I HATE cooking. As a matter of fact, Tim and I just spent $50 at the grocery store buying only frozen Lean Cuisines.) Anyway, all that to say I am looking for someone who entertains often and would like to contribute an “entertaining/entertaining decor” post to the blog every couple of weeks. Please e-mail me if you are interested!

- Quick projects are what most of you want because let’s face it- we are all crazy busy! I will throw in detailed projects every once in a while for those of you that are super ambitious!
- Many of you enjoy both crafty and high design posts. Generally, “high design” posts seem too out of reach and so most people would rather read about something they can achieve on their own. So, my goal will be to present crafty posts as well as high design ideas that can be replicated easily and inexpensively!
For example, most of you would look at this entry way furniture and immediately stop reading because you can’t build furniture. But I can/would give you a 4 step tutorial on how to create this entry way bench/coat rack with a few screws in a couple of hours.

There you have it- so much fun planned for a new year! Please e-mail me at kara.paslay@gmail.com if you 1) have an expensive item in mind that you want a cheap DIY tutorial for, 2) have a design dilemma, and/or 3) would like to contribute an “entertaining ideas” post! And by the way- the winner of the $50 gift card is. . . . . Hollow Squirrel. Ms. Hollow Squirrel please e-mail me!

Wow! that gray and white looks sharp!
I’m really excited about the changes to the blog! I would actually love a tutorial on how to build that entry way furniture. I have an entry way that is in desperate need of some help!
yes please to the entryway bench tutorial!!
All of the ideas for the blog sound great! All are things I would also love to read about and see pictures of. I can’t wait to see what your creative mind comes up with for making the pottery barn clocks:)
ps. another thing I have a lot of trouble with that you are very good at is arranging knick-knacks, vases, books, etc on tables and shelves. Break this one down for me if you can…I know there is a certain amount of “just being able to see it” involved.
Great ideas for the future, can’t wait. The gray is a great color, never would have thought to use it. 🙂
Well I’m really glad that everyone else gave their input. I had every intention of doing so but never got around to it! The changes however are exactly what I would have said. For example I love looking at high design but it is just not practical in my (4 kids that are 7 and under) world. I love your blog. I learn a lot and most importantly I leave inspired to do something or change something or start something (that I may or may not finish, lol). I’m so excited to see what you come up with this year!
Hey Ladies, thanks so much for the comments!
Corinne-I will definitely plan a post on some accessory placement. Thanks for letting me know what you want to read about!
K will I really DO wanna know how to make that clock!! 🙂
I really want to know how to make that clock! And the gray mirror, how lovely!
Wait a second… did you ever post about how to make that entryway bench and coat rack? I would love that. So many inspiring on your blog!
