Turning Target Cartwheels and A Sweepstakes

Any fellow Target lovers out there?  Chain stores generally aren’t my jam, but Target is definitely the exception.  It never fails, when I step into that store, I always walk out with a cart looking like this….

Whether I’m shopping for a set or styling a client’s space, Target is definitely at the top of my go to list.  And guess what!  I recently found out something that made me even more excited to visit my favorite, affordable home decor store…..extra savings!

Apparently Target has a new app called Cartwheel.  This app has digital coupons good for all sorts of stuff from home decor to groceries.  I downloaded the app as soon as I heard about this new way to save, but honestly figured that it would have miniscule coupons for things I didn’t really want.  To my delight, I explored the offers to find a number of items I want to buy! One of the offers I was most excited about is the 25% off Threshold Bedding!  I am about to design and style a bedroom space for a client, and the Threshold line has some really great bedding options! I wanted to be able to tell you guys how great the app was from personal experience, so I jumped in the car and ran down the road a few miles to my closest Target store. I knew from reading some of the literature that you could scan the barcode of any item to see if there were any savings to be had on a particular piece.  I was eager to try out the technology and see how easy it was to use.  I headed to the bedding section.

I figured the “bedding” coupon included comforters, but I also wondered if it included bedskirts, sheets, and pillows.  So, one at a time I scanned different barcodes and waited to see if the item was eligible for savings.

If the item was eligible, this screen popped up and I could “save” the offer to later be used at the register…

If the item was not eligible, this screen popped up…

I was thrilled to find out that sheets, pillows, and pillow covers were all eligible!  You can only buy 4 items from the same offer at once, so I made my picks from the Threshold bedding collection and went to checkout.  I simply showed the cashier the offer on my phone, she scanned the bar code, and the savings were applied! If I wanted to go back and say, add a pillow, I could do that as long as I don’t exceed 6 transactions a day. Oh, and you can combine the Cartwheel savings with other offers as well!  I, for example, have a Target Red Card, so I saved an extra 5% on my purchase, giving me a total of 30% off!  That means, the bedding that would have cost around $180 was reduced to a total of $130! I was so pleased with not only the savings, but how easy the Cartwheel app was to use!  At first I was wondering how they came up with the name, but after using the service and saving $50, I’m totally turning “cartwheels” over here!  Clever Target, very clever.  I can’t wait to see what other home items come up in the next weeks and months! You can get more info about the Cartwheel app here.  Stay tuned to see how I use that Target Threshold bedding in a client’s space! PS- Target is also hosting a Sweepstakes!!!!
