What to do with bare walls

What to do with bare walls
We all have those walls within our house that are blah and boring. Sometimes the hardest part of a design is figuring out a creative addition to spice up blank walls. Here are few applications to spruce up your space. But also remember, not every wall in a room should be filled with photos, art, ect. Some blank space is required, without it a room will feel cluttered and overwhelming.

Band of color adds interest in otherwise boring room

Its not always about adding art, but sometimes just a bit of color. A great way to take up some visual space is by adding a band of paint. Keep the darker color on the bottom half to ground the space and keep it from looking smaller than it is. Install wainscoting for a slightly different and more expensive look that creates the same visual interest.
Books on bookshelves organized in order of rainbow
Shelves, whether stand alone, floating, or via a built-in, establish a fabulous focal point for displaying accessories. I love the way the books are arranged according to their colors. Use colored paper to cover your books and create this same scene in your living room.
Painted rectangles make big dramatic frames around artwork
Have a big space and a small budget? This idea is for you!! All you need is a few photos, frames, and paint. Map out large rectangles and use coordinating colors to cause a 8 x 10 picture to become a extensive eye catcher.
Needlepoint looms make great fabric displays
No tools, no talent? NO PROBLEM!! Find some fantastic fabric, stretch it over these knitting circles, and hang on the wall in a random pattern.
Graphic peacock silhouette adds interest
Put graphic patterns or prints on the wall with paint. The result: the most economical option with the most impact. Because graphics have little detail, an overhead projector is perfect for outlining the picture of your preference.
Fancy paper cluster
Decorative papers aren’t just for scrapbooking! With all sorts of styles and designs, you are sure to find something that suits you.
Artistic personal pictures over the mantel
Personal photos are wonderful reminders of the past. However, these shots rarely speak to those not in them. Focus your mind and your camera on taking pictures with an artsy flare. Perfectly posed is not as appealing as capturing the candid.
Shabby chic shutters hold pictures and other darling dittys

For shabby chic charm, use a old shutter to hold anything from snapshots to pretty postcards.

Hey Mrs. Ivy! The decorative paper photo is just one I found on the internet, so I didn’t actually do that project. But I think it is as easy as using some spray adhesive and canvases (or even foam core board).
