“Metal” Marquee Letters

“Metal” Marquee Letters

Because I like to create one-of-a-kind, personal spaces for my clients, I am always trying to think of ways to make custom pieces.  As you know, Anthony’s man cave has tons of custom items made especially for him.  One of those pieces is the “TU” marquee letters.  I would have loved to find these metal letters at a flea market but the likelihood of coming across something so specific is pretty slim.  So, my solution was to DIY my own marquee letters.

Upon looking at these, you probably thought I broke out the welder and made sparks fly as I put the letters together.  BUT…you would be wrong! I’ve talked about it before and I’ll talk about it again- Modern Masters makes this amazing metal paint and metal aging solution.

The “Metal Effects” paint has real metal flakes inside of it, so when you place the patina solution on top of it, you get an instantly aged surface that looks like real metal!  I love this product because anyone can use it.  I don’t know a lot of DIY’ers that have the access or the skills to use a welder, but with this paint, anyone can create beautiful, industrial looking pieces.

I’ve definitely grown in my skill set and products I am comfortable using over the years, but paint is still one of my favorite ways to transform any piece or space!   You can find Modern Masters “Metal Effects” paints at your local Spectrum Paint or shop online right here!
